I love being with Francis anywhere, but being with him here and opening at the TIFF is a real treat. The audience and press are so genuine and open to film. It’s been a strong festival in the world for many many years. I’ve been Many times but this one is my favorite. I’ve got a party tomorrow night and invited one of our composers the amazing Dan Deacon to perform a bit.
There was a special short from festival participants about 9.11 and the moment of impact for the world and the festival. It was moving and important. It aired just before TWIXT. The audience was moved. I sat next to my director and we wept a little together. During our film as well!
I laughed and cried- what else can you ask for out of film Francis Ford Coppola made in his back yard.

Harmony Korine by Val Kilmer
Harmony is hilarious. He views the downtrodden and hard luck cases without judgement, or makes a real effort not to, and is courageous in not giving in to the temptation that a character has to be only good, or bad…
I have found the beautiful woman who was recording with Dan Auerbach and friends – Valerie June. What a sweet creature she is. http://www.kickstarter.com/
So, What topics would you like to hear my doofus motivational speaker speak about? Harmony and I will review the answers, and lucky inquisitors could have their questions featured in the film. I am trying to work out a regular time to call winners personally, and answer them in character. If we have permission from you, we may use the recordings in the film. Dont’ be gross, but silly and colorful is good, like cotton candy.
We film in Nashville. I love Nashville. Apparently we had kin that owned a big farm long ago, but we lost it. Any one know any Kilmer history out there about the folks from the south?
“I want to catapult you into the fourth dimension.” Hector from LOTUS COMMUNITY CENTER…
Going to Lauren Hill, Muse and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
From the Site Admins to Val.
Question: If you were a motivational speaker, what subject would you like to address?
Answer: I am about to create an experimental film with Harmony Korine here in Nashville, where we are rehearsing and where we will film on the 11th of August in a roller skating rink. I will be playing Hector. Harmony says of the character, “I don’t know if he’s ‘crazy’ – I don’t know if I know what that word means anymore… He’s the WORST motivational speaker on earth. That’s for sure.” We went last night to visit Dan Auerbach and friends, of BLACK KEYS fame. He was recording Valerie Rich’s beautiful music. We soaked up the soul- but not even NASHVILLE’S finest can save HECTOR- motivational speaker sponsored by the -LOTUS COMMUNITY CENTER- (the current title, for our experimental film).
Harmony and I met a couple of years ago in New York with his lovely wife Rachel, and have been talking about a project ever since. This looney monologue is the first opportunity that materialized.
I will be appearing at Comic Con Saturday, July 23rd with Stan Lee and Peter David to discuss the upcoming Activision Marvel video games X-Men Destiny and Spider-Man: Edge of Time at 10am; and with Francis Ford Coppola and Dan Deacon to present sequences from Coppola’s latest film, TWIXT, and involve the audience in a dress rehearsal of the completely unique and innovative way we plan on performing it at 11:45am.
A fan took this at the ceremony this morning, where my friend Senator Udall spoke with characteristic humor and dignity, very much in the style of our great state. Our new governor also spoke eloquently, and our congressman and the mayor of Santa Fe, Mayor Coss.
I was there to visit the grave of several of my friends who died in service. I also wanted to pay my respects to Col. Gavin, whose ranch I bought years ago. I became a family friend and particularly close with his amazing wife, Mary Gavin, one of the founders of the Natural History museum in Alb. They were married for 70 years! The family asked me to write and deliver his eulogy. I miss them both very much. He looked at her, like they were on their first date. Always. What a legacy. God bless America.
